MBA Bowling: Striking Fear in Opponents

After two years of being considered one of Division II’s premier bowling squads, the Big Red Bowlers took on the 2016-17 season looking to rebound from losing four seniors who had anchored the team for their four years as members. Things went about as expected in the rebuilding year and the team finished with a 2-14 record. While the record certainly was not the way the team wanted the year to end, many positives were taken away. New leadership emerged after the loss of former captain, Jackson Wooten. Numerous underclassmen got their first experience bowling in matches. The team as a whole learned how to rebound from hardship. After this tough season, MBA Bowling was ready to move forward.

Believe It: Team 119 Heads to State

Success is nothing new to those around MBA football. After all, the Big Red have won fifteen state championships in their 119 year history. But four state championship appearances in four seasons is nothing to scoff at for any program. While going to Cookeville has almost become a given, it did not feel that way at times for this year’s players, Team 119. There were reasons to doubt. There were highs and lows. Nevertheless, the Big Red will be loading buses headed to Cookeville tomorrow.

Everyone remembers last year’s hockey state championship. Ravenwood scored with 23 seconds left in the game and they would go on to win the game in overtime. This game was a tough pill to swallow for the team and was a story all too familiar, but the coaches knew that they could rebound from the game and make the 2017-2018 season the best for the Big Red.
